Venice
I find that visitors to Venice fall into two categories: most enjoy their visit, but are happy to leave after two days and have no desire to return. Others absolutely fall head over heels in love with the place, immediately start planning a longer trip here, and dream of some day living in the city. Venice is that kind of place.
Along with Rome and Florence it’s one of the big three when it comes to visiting Italy. The curiosity factor alone makes it a “must see” destination, but for most travelers I recommend two nights.
That will give you a half-day's worth of sightseeing the day you arrive, a full day following that, and two evenings—really the best part of any visit to Venice.
